Sammy, Raphael and Michael took part in Igniting Futures: In Your Element. Igniting Futures offers SEND young people aged 14-18 a personalised support programme that breaks down barriers to opportunity and tackles inequality by providing them with the skills, knowledge and networks that they would otherwise be unable to access without the existing connections and social capital of their less marginalised peers. The programme runs for six weeks.

Hi my name is Sammy and I spent six weeks on work experience with Sculpt UK through the Igniting Futures: Power Up Programme. I enjoy working hard, cleaning and tidying and in my free time I like to relax, watch TV and like to editing. I spent six weeks at Sculpt on work experience and learnt about money coming in and money coming out and enjoyed learning about different businesses. Working with Sculpt I was able to identify my skills. I am excellent at problem solving, which includes thinking about what I have to do e.g. tidying put and helping others. I am good at being creative, I am looking to improve my animation skills. I am good at working together with others and helping them, so I feel confident in my teamwork skills.

Hi my name is Raphael and I spent six weeks at Sculpt on work experience and learnt how to use the laptops, how to talk about what I do in my free time and what I am good at and could be better at. I really enjoyed learning how to make money and spending time in the café. Working with Sculpt I was able to identify my skills. I am good a problem solving, this means fixing things so they are as good as new. I feel confident in my ability to help others and fix things. I am also good at working as part of a team, I am especially good at tidying up and working together. I also think I have strength in my time management skills, particularly my ability to be patient.

Through my time at Sculpt I learnt about customer service, personal finance and how to plan and set up my own business ideas. I understand that income means money in, and expense means money out and that customers are people who want to buy something and good customer service is helping those people. I would love to come back and do more work experience with Sculpt.
